E-learning Tool for the Digitalization of School and University Mathematics

© Easy Pisy
Mathematics is a real challenge for many students - and this is precisely where the young start-up Easy Pisy comes in. The team is developing an innovative e-learning tool that promotes the digitalization of school and university mathematics and focuses on individual support. In the interview, the founding team explains how they came up with the idea based on their own experience as tutors, the hurdles they overcame on the way to founding the company and why WORLDFACTORY's support is so valuable to them. They also give exciting insights into the special features of their offer and share their most important tips for anyone who wants to start their own business. The following interview was translated into English by WORLDFACTORY.
Please introduce yourselves briefly as the founding team. What are your strengths?
We are easy pisy - Thomas, Julian, Christina and Simon. Thomas and Julian have a total of 16 semesters of tutoring experience in the Mathematics for Economists module and are passionate about making teaching clear and understandable. Christina complements the team with her skills in marketing and video editing/animation and Simon is responsible for the material preparation.
As siblings, Thomas and Christina have known each other forever. But Julian, Thomas and Simon have also known each other for several years, as they went to school together from the eighth grade and later completed their studies together.
Describe your start-up idea:
We develop an e-learning tool for the digitalization of school and university mathematics. Each student receives individually adapted tasks so that they can learn at their own pace. At the same time, the teacher or tutor should also be able to view learning progress and receive recommendations for targeted support.
How did you first come up with the idea of founding the company?
Through Thomas and Julian's work as tutors. We experienced the problems of the students every semester and finally wanted to develop a solution.
How did you manage to combine your start-up with your studies/work?
For Thomas and Julian, the start-up period coincided with the end of their studies, so they were soon able to devote their full attention to the company. Christina is writing her Bachelor's thesis at the same time and will start her Master's degree next semester. Simon is currently completing his Master's degree. However, studying and founding a company are not necessarily mutually exclusive, but can be combined with good time management.
For us, the WORLDFACTORY means...
Access to an excellent network in all sectors and a contact person for all questions relating to start-ups, the market and much more.
What are the biggest challenges you can face and how do you deal with them?
As an entrepreneur, you are responsible for everything, even fields you have no idea of. That's why it's incredibly important to build up contacts in different sectors. Start-up centers or people who have faced similar difficulties are a great way to do so.
What is special about your start-up?
We not only offer a learning platform, but also the service of creating course content for university chairs and integrating it into our tool. We therefore offer an all-in-one package.
What is your current situation and what are the next steps?
We have completed our first version of the platform. We are now collecting customer feedback in order to further develop the tool and expand our range of features.
Your tip for all those interested in founding a company:
Definitely getting started! You can only make progress if you start. Even if you are not immediately super successful and possibly fail in the first step, you gain valuable experience which teaches you a lot. Contact and exchange with (former) start-ups and incubators is always a benefit.
